OV66 authorisation means a UK government vet (known as an Official Veterinarian or OV) has been given permission to to carry out ID verifications and other official checks for pets travelling to Australia. The new OV66 export process reduces the Australian post-entry quarantine time from 30 days to 10 days.
In order for pets to be eligible for reduced quarantine, a minimum of two OV66 vets must be involved in the export. Two OV66 ID verifications must be completed between 180 and 365 days before the pet arrives in Australia and the checks must be carried out by different OV66 vets from different practices. The rabies blood sample must be taken by an OV66 and the results of the test verified by an independent OV66 who completes an RNATT declaration; this is used to apply for your pets import permit. The final export health certificate must also be completed by an OV66; often this is done by an OV at the airport just before travel.
As Pet Travel Pass are an independent Official Veterinarian service and not affiliated with any veterinary practice, we are ideally placed to carry out OV66 ID verifications in addition to the RNATT declaration. Please note, we do not offer either the rabies vaccine or RNATT blood test.

The OV66 ID check can be considered as the first step in exporting your pet to Australia. In order for us to complete your pets ID verification, we need 2 pieces of paperwork:
Please complete one application form and email per pet and title your email with your surname, first name, pet name and pet microchip number e.g. SMITH, JANE, TIDDLES, 123456789101112. Please use the name you will use to export your pet
